Camille is a ‘Trini to de bone’ having been born and bred in the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Camille is one of the original members of the Caribbeanz Southern Stars Steelband.

Rona is originally from Scotland but her heart is in the Caribbean, having spent her teenage years in the Turks and Caicos Islands and St Vincent.

Sue Brook

For Sue, playing the steelpan was a dream come true and she never thought that she would have the chance to play the pans here in New Zealand. Born in New Zealand to West Indian parents from the beautiful Caribbean Island of Bequia, music like Calypso and Soca were always played in her family home and for Sue, this music in her bones!!!

Leticia de Klerk

Tish originates from South Africa. She started playing pan when she was 12 and developed her love for the instrument and its amazing cultural history. She has played with great panmasters such as Dr Andrew Tracey (SA), Steve Lawrie (Panyard, USA) and Andy Narell (USA). Tish has over 17 years of music background and is currently the “musical director” for the band.

Phil Hayward

Phil migrated from Whangarei and was invited to play in the Southern Stars and is now hooked.

Garth Buxton

He is the bass player of the band. He is an international man from the South Islands.

Audrey Chong

Thinks that Steel Pans can cross boundaries of culture, race, age, gender and religion.

Ros

Ros is the band’s granny. She is a kiwi who married a Trini and lives in Auckland with her 2 Trinidad-Kiwi daughters and 2 Jamaican Trinidad-Kiwi granddaughters.

Rose Bron

Rose, is Jamaican born , lived in Switzerland for 14 years before making New Zealand her home in 2002. She is a founding member of the CaribbeaNZ steel band and currently loves to play the percussion instruments and dance.
